EPCglobal US Subscriber News Policy and Guidelines

The goal of EPCglobal US™ Subscriber News Release Policy and Guidelines is to facilitate the process of announcing news of mutually beneficial significance in a consistent and professional manner. An organization's brand is one of its most valuable assets. In addition to being a recognizable symbol of our role as industry's trusted partner for driving global adoption and implementation of Electronic Product Code™ (EPC) / Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, our brand communicates important attributes such as quality, trust, integrity, and leadership. We encourage you to communicate your company's association with EPCglobal US, and want to emphasize our requirement that you adhere to the following guidelines to ensure proper use of our brand (name and logo). We will work closely with you to facilitate the proper reviews and approvals.

GENERAL POLICY

In general, EPCglobal US will allow:

Approved use of the EPCglobal US name in text form when referenced in Subscriber materials such as a news release. Example: Company XYZ is a Subscriber to EPCglobal US.

Approved use of the EPCglobal US logo in Subscriber materials, such as brochures or websites. The brand mark shown below is the only acceptable presentation of the logo.

On a case-by-case basis, we may approve usage of our name in a routine mention of your association with EPCglobal US appearing in external communications such as an annual report or in other written communications materials. If approved, the name must appear only in text. No use of our logo will be permitted without prior consent.

EPCglobal US does not allow:

The association of its name in any publicity or external communications materials that have not been reviewed and approved by EPCglobal US in writing.

The use of or reference to the EPCglobal US name or logo following revocation of the EPC Manager Number and access to the EPCglobal Network ® for non-compliance with terms and conditions of the EPCglobal US subscription, including failure to pay renewal and subscription fees.

Issuing a News Release Announcing a Subscription

To issue a news release announcing your subscription to EPCglobal US use the following guidelines and approval process:  

    1. Proper Reference to EPCglobal Inc™ and EPCglobal US .
    You are subscribing to EPCglobal US , an affiliate of EPCglobal Inc. Therefore, you should use EPCglobal US when referencing your company's subscription to the organization. EPCglobal Inc is responsible for standards development and governance.

    2. Always Include EPCglobal US Boilerplate.
    All news releases must include the following EPCglobal US boilerplate: About EPCglobal US: EPCglobal US™ is a subsidiary of GS1 US™ serving subscribers in the U nited States to help foster the adoption of the EPCglobal Network® and related technology. The EPCglobal Network combines Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, existing communications network infrastructure, and the Electronic Product Code™ (a number for uniquely identifying an item) to enable accurate, cost-efficient visibility of information in the supply chain. The end result helps organizations be more efficient, flexible, and responsive to customer needs. For more information about EPCglobal US, please visit www.EPCglobalUS.org

    3. The EPCglobal US boilerplate should follow your company boilerplate. For your convenience, we have included a sample template release for use as a guide.

    4. Approval Process.
    EPCglobal US review and approval is required prior to distributing the release. Send an electronic copy of the draft release to EPCglobal US Communications Department at: Communications@EPCglobalUS.org. Note in the e-mail that you are requesting approval for a release announcing your subscription and any deadlines involved. Allow at least three to five business days for responses to individual requests. We also ask that you send us a copy of your final release for archive purposes.

 
General Approval Process

 

Usage of the EPCglobal US name
If you would like to use the EPCglobal US name in a news release other than one announcing your subscription, or for any other public use such as on a website, in an annual report, for marketing pieces, etc. the approval process is as follows:  

    1. Submit your request to the EPCglobal US Communications Department at: Communications@EPCglobalUS.org 

    2. Indicate the intended use of the communications piece. EPCglobal US Communications Department will get back to you on approval of your usage request. Once available, provide a draft sample of the communications to EPCglobal US Communications Department for review and final approval. 

    We will work with you to obtain necessary approvals, including legal approval, within a reasonable time frame.

Usage of the EPCglobal US logo
If you would like to request use of the EPCglobal US logo, you must complete the online logo request form, or download a hard copy of the form and fax EPCglobal US at +1 609.620.1200.

Please note that permission to use the logo for an individual request does not permit future use of the logo. Approval must be granted for each request.
