From EPCglobal US’s point of view, Microsoft’s EPCIS certification is important because it demonstrates that the EPCglobal EPC Information Services standard is quickly making its way from a standard on paper to a standard in practice. With Microsoft joining the ranks of IBM, SAP, NEC, Axway and many other global software vendors who have certified a product to the EPCIS standard, EPC “event” capture and exchange is rapidly becoming a standard feature of software you already use. This makes it simpler to enhance visibility inside your organization and with your trading partners without investing in custom applications.
