Understand what EPC Compliance means to you and how to meet Sam's Club Requirements.
|
|
1.
|
What are the requirements for Sam’s Club? |
| |
- Review the Sam’s Club EPC Strategy Update distributed in January 2009.
- All suppliers are required to tag pallets, cases, and the selling unit with a Serialized Global Trade Item Number (SGTIN) or a Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC). This means that you need to encode one of these identifiers into an Electronic Product Code (EPC). This is very important because it is the EPC that is embedded in the RFID tag that will be read by Sam’s Club. Note: You will learn how to build your EPC in the ‘Translate’ activity.

You need to: |
| |

- develop your EPC Adoption Program for your company
- identify the trade item(s) that need to be tagged for Sam’s Club
- modify your U.P.C. bar code number to a GTIN in Retail Link
- identify the GTIN in Retail Link as EPC/RFID-enabled
- encode an EPC on the RFID tags you are applying to your trade item(s)

Who is EPCglobal US and how do they fit into my EPC Adoption Program? |
| |
EPCglobal US is the US member organization of EPCglobal that focuses on the commercial use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. The Electronic Product Code (EPC) is the standard the EPCglobal community created for use with RFID technology. When you join EPCglobal US, an EPC Manager Number is registered for you, ensuring your unique trade item(s) identification. Additionally, this number is registered and recognized in the EPCglobal Network. EPCglobal US is your implementation readiness partner that is committed to supporting your implementation of EPC using RFID technology through various products and services. |
